Like many people (possibly including yourself), I have a lifelong ambition to see around our wondrous planet and marvel at the diverse cultures, architecture, and scenery each locale offers.
So, naturally, I would possess an interest in reading about travel. Having read some of Lonely Planet‘s publications before, I figured putting their informative and ranked Lonely Planet’s Ultimate Travel List in my large to-read pile was merely common sense.
Not to suggest that any location is worthless, but it really comes down to each person or traveller. I’m sure rankings within this publication may be controversial, or perhaps suffer a little bit of bias or prejudice, but you simply cannot please everyone. At the end of the day, it is a rough guide—you, the reader, ultimately decide on where to go.
However, I do like books packed with knowledge and insights, but only when they avoid becoming overbearing and swamped with excessive facts. Condensed works like this one are more to my liking, so I definitely look forward to picking up some edition of it and seeing what the editorial team think are the best five hundred places to see around this fascinating place we call Earth.
