Like last week, let me break some new ground on Book of the Week by covering a book I read a few dozen pages into before chucking it into the local charity shop some months later, having left it long untouched.
George R. R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones should not really even be on here. Everyone knows it. It is the first instalment in the go-to medieval fantasy series of A Song of Fire and Ice. What could I possibly say that no one else has said? Effectively nothing.
However, if you’re somehow unaware of this book, or have never given it a go despite considering yourself to be a medieval fantasy buff, then perhaps it’s worth checking out. Maybe you’ll even find my pre-owned copy kicking around at a very specific charity shop.
